- August 23, 2026, 04:16:03 PMIt's way simpler than people remember. You get three rods — Old, Good, and Super — and each one just unlocks a higher-level table of encounters in the same water tiles. There's no timing mini-game. You use the rod, it says "Oh! A bite!" and sometimes it says "Not even a nibble..." just to waste your time. If you get a bite you go straight into battle. Super Rod is the only one that actually matters for completing the Pokedex.
