Why do internet trends disappear so quickly?
Because the algorithm rewards novelty, not longevity. A trend blows up, 10 million people copy it in 48 hours, you see the same audio/joke 200 times, your brain flags it as spam, and you scroll past. The lifecycle is now: niche funny → mainstream viral → brand cringe → dead. It takes like 5 days total. We don't get bored of the trend itself, we get bored of seeing our For You Page turn into the same video on loop.
