How to Get Past the Water Temple in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom When You Can't Find the Next Way Forward
The Water Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can become confusing because the main objective is not simply about reaching one final room. You need to activate several water-related mechanisms, and the temple's floating structure makes it easy to lose track of where the remaining objectives are.
If you have already activated some of the temple's water wheels but cannot find the next one, the first thing to do is look for the yellow objective markers. The temple's layout becomes much easier to understand when you stop treating it as one large structure and instead identify each individual mechanism.
One common sticking point is reaching platforms that appear too far away. This is where the low-gravity environment becomes important. Link can jump considerably farther than normal, so don't always assume that you need to build a vehicle. Jumping, gliding, and using the nearby floating bubbles can often get you across gaps.
The bubble generators are particularly important. When a bubble is moving toward another platform, Link can use Recall on it to reverse its movement. This can provide a route back to areas that initially appear inaccessible.
Another useful technique is using Ultrahand to manipulate objects around the temple. If you encounter a mechanism that appears to be missing a component, look around the immediate area for movable objects. Some solutions require attaching an object to a mechanism rather than simply activating it directly.
If you reach the water wheel mechanisms but cannot activate one, check whether the surrounding sludge is blocking it. The temple's water-related puzzles frequently require clearing sludge before the mechanism becomes usable. Sidon's Water Bubble ability can be particularly important for dealing with this problem.
If you are completely lost, teleporting back to the temple entrance and approaching the objectives again can actually help. Rather than wandering randomly through the floating platforms, use the map and objective markers to identify which section still contains an inactive mechanism.
The important thing is not to assume that a missing path means you need a special item you haven't found. The Water Temple generally expects you to combine Link's existing abilities with the temple's unique low-gravity environment.
