My opinion of Attack on Titan is that it became much more ambitious than its initial premise suggested. At the beginning, it is easy to see the series as a straightforward survival story about humans fighting gigantic creatures, but its appeal grows dramatically once the world begins revealing additional layers. What impressed me most is how the meaning of earlier events can change as the viewer learns more information. Characters who initially seem easy to understand can become considerably more complicated, and situations that look morally simple can become much harder to judge. The series is also unusually good at making its world feel dangerous because victories rarely feel completely comfortable. Even when the protagonists accomplish something important, there is often a sense that the consequences haven't disappeared. I think the strongest aspect of Attack on Titan is its willingness to make the audience reconsider its assumptions rather than constantly giving them straightforward heroes and villains. The animation, music, action sequences, and dramatic presentation certainly contribute to its popularity, but those things would not matter nearly as much without the larger questions about freedom, fear, responsibility, revenge, and the consequences of conflict. At the same time, I understand why some viewers find the later story increasingly complicated or emotionally exhausting. Personally, I think that complexity is part of what makes the series worth discussing. It is not simply an anime about fighting Titans; it becomes a story about how people understand the world when they have incomplete information, and how dramatically those beliefs can change when new information appears.

I think its ending is much more interesting to discuss than simply labeling it "good" or "bad." The series spent so much of its story encouraging viewers to think about freedom, revenge, survival, nationalism, morality, and the consequences of violence that it was almost impossible for the ending to satisfy everyone. Personally, I think the ending works better when viewed as the conclusion to the characters' long psychological journey rather than as a final attempt to explain every single mystery or give everyone a perfectly happy outcome. One of the things I appreciate about the series is how dramatically the meaning of earlier events changes as the audience learns more about the world. At first, the story appears to be about humanity surviving against Titans, but eventually the conflict becomes much more complicated, with characters on different sides believing that they are protecting their own people. That transformation is one of the reasons I consider Attack on Titan one of the most ambitious mainstream anime of its generation. The ending can certainly feel uncomfortable because it refuses to provide the simple emotional payoff that some viewers may have expected after so much buildup. I think that's partly intentional. The story has repeatedly shown that violence doesn't magically disappear because one battle has been won. People remember suffering, nations maintain fear and resentment, and new generations inherit problems created by previous generations. For me, the strongest aspect of the ending is therefore not any individual plot event but the larger idea that there may be no perfect solution to a cycle of hatred. At the same time, I understand the criticism that some developments feel rushed compared with the enormous amount of setup that came before them. My final judgment is that Attack on Titan is an exceptional anime with an ending that is imperfect but thematically consistent. It gives fans something much more valuable than a universally satisfying conclusion: something to argue about years later.
