Would Ash Have Been Better Off With Different Pokémon?

A surprisingly entertaining question for Pokémon fans is this: would Ash Ketchum have become an even better trainer if he had used a completely different team? It is easy to answer "yes" when looking at individual Pokémon with powerful abilities, but the more interesting answer is that Ash's unusual team choices were part of what made his journey memorable.

Ash rarely built his teams as if he were following a perfectly optimized competitive strategy. Instead, he frequently formed strong emotional connections with Pokémon and then helped them develop through experience. Some were initially weak, stubborn, inexperienced, or difficult to control, but their progress became part of the story.
